Suspect shot and killed in fatal GR motorcycle crash in Wisconsin

OSHKOSH, Wisconsin – The man accused of fatally hitting a motorcyclist in Grand Rapids last summer was shot and killed in Wisconsin this week.

Atem Mathiang, 19, was shot multiple times on a street corner in Oshkosh on Tuesday, according to a report from NBC 26, the sister station of FOX 17 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Mathiang was charged with reckless driving in connection with the death of 21-year-old Jared Gossage. The accident occurred on August 26, 2023 at the corner of B Street and Cesar E Chavez Avenue.

Police told NBC 26 that an 18-year-old Fond du Lac man is suspected of killing Mathiang. His identity will not be released until formal charges are filed.
