Tontitown man arrested in Fayetteville on Monday for assaulting police officers during Jan. 6, 2021, riot

A press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office said 45-year-old David Michael Camden of Tontitown, Arkansas, was arrested and charged with assault on law enforcement officers.

A Tontitown man was arrested Monday for his involvement in the January 6, 2021, insurrection. A press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office said David Michael Camden, 45, of Tontitown, Arkansas, was arrested and charged with assault on police. According to court documents, police were able to identify Camden from photos and videos taken and posted by people inside the Capitol. Camden was observed yelling at officers and pushing a bike rack into a U.S. Capitol Police officer in an attempt to break through their cordon. Shortly afterward, documents say, Camden used a fire extinguisher on a police line. Later, Camden climbed a media tower set up for the upcoming inauguration. Camden waved a “Three Percenters” flag over the mob of rioters. According to court documents, the Three Percenters is an American far-right anti-government militia. Camden is the eighth Arkansas resident arrested on charges related to the Capitol riots.Other Arkansas residents arrestedRichard Barnett was sentenced to four years and six months in prison after a jury found him guilty of obstructing an official proceeding, theft of government property and entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon. He was photographed with his feet on a desk in Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office during the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. He also took an envelope from her office.Jon Thomas Mott, of Flippin, was sentenced to 30 days in jail for holding a parade, demonstrating or protesting in a Capitol building. In a video, Mott is seen pushing against a police officer’s baton and telling him, “Don’t touch me” and “If you don’t touch me, I won’t touch you,” a police report said.Robert “Bob” Snow of Heber Springs pleaded guilty to parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building. A judge sentenced him to one year of probation and a $510 fine in July 2022. He has apologized for participating.Peter Francis Stager of Conway pleaded guilty to assaulting, resisting or obstructing certain officers with a deadly or dangerous weapon. He was sentenced to 52 months in prison.Nathan Earl Hughes of Fayetteville was arrested last month and charged with aggravated misdemeanor of public disorder. Hughes is charged with minor misdemeanors of entering and remaining in any building or grounds, disorderly and disruptive conduct in any building or grounds, and obstructing passage through the Capitol grounds or buildings. Brennen Cline Machacek, of Hindsville, was sentenced to one year of probation and $510 in fines and restitution. He had been charged with violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds. Daniel Hatcher was arrested earlier this year. Video footage shows Hatcher attempting to climb a wall, using a bike rack as a ladder at one point, according to the indictment. He told agents he made it to the top of the wall but then climbed back down and went up the stairs instead.

According to court documents, police were able to identify Camden through photos and videos taken and posted by people inside the Capitol. Camden was observed yelling at officers and pushing a bike rack into a U.S. Capitol Police officer in an attempt to break through the cordon.

Shortly thereafter, according to the documents, Camden used a fire extinguisher at a police cordon.

Camden later climbed a media tower that had been erected for the upcoming inauguration.

Camden waved a Three Percenters flag over the mob of rioters. According to court documents, the Three Percenters is a far-right American militia that opposes the government.

Camden is the eighth Arkansas resident arrested on charges related to the Capitol riots.

Richard Barnett was sentenced to four years and six months in prison after a jury found him guilty of obstructing an official proceeding, theft of government property, and entering and remaining in any restricted building or grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon. He was photographed with his feet on a desk in Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office during the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. He also took an envelope from her office.
