U.S. Air Force Staff Sergeant Jorge Delgado, a 38-year-old soldier with the 341st Security Forces Squadron at Malmstrom in Great Falls, was killed.

Three other occupants of the vehicle were injured, and two other pilots from the first aid team were also injured while assisting in the accident, officials said.

The five injured pilots were taken to nearby medical facilities.

Malmstrom officials said Monday that two of the injured pilots were in stable condition at a local medical facility and three had been released.

The four soldiers in the vehicle were on their way to their deployment at the base in an armored HMMWV at the time of the incident, authorities said in a press release.

They said the investigation was still ongoing.

“Team Malmstrom and our surrounding community mourn the loss of not only a brilliant Airman, but also a family member and friend,” said Col. Dan Voorhies, 341st Missile Wing commander, in an email.

“As we help our affected soldiers and their families, I urge all of us to spend a little more time checking in on one another, hugging those in need and giving them love and support so we can continue to persevere,” he said.
