At about 4:30 p.m. that day, Nunez-Alejandre was driving a GMC Yukon while Albarran was driving a Honda Civic north on Etiwanda Avenue in Fontana.

For unknown reasons, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, an “incident of road rage” occurred and Nunez-Alejandre fired a pistol at Albarran.

“Albarran was struck by gunfire, lost control of his vehicle and collided with a parked car,” the sheriff’s report said.

The incident was reported in the 14100 block of Arrow Route.

Albarran was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Nunez-Alejandre was tracked down and arrested on suspicion of murder, police said. It is unclear how he was found and how officers determined he was the shooter.

Nunez-Alejandre was taken to the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, where he was held without bail.
