Lenox woman killed in pedestrian-car crash

LENOX, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — According to New York State Police, a Lenox woman died on Wednesday, June 26, following an accident involving a pedestrian and a car.

On Wednesday around 7:50 p.m., officers were called to State Route 5 in the town of Lenox. Further investigation by state police revealed that the pedestrian – 53-year-old Lezlie Moyer-Hansen of Chittenango – was walking in the middle of the lane on State Route 5.


According to police, Moyer-Hansen was then struck by a car driven by 40-year-old Camille Downer of Oneida. Moyer-Hansen was taken by ambulance from Greater Lenox to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, where she succumbed to her injuries and was subsequently pronounced dead.

Downer was not injured in the accident.

State police were assisted at the scene by the Greater Lenox Ambulance Corps, Canastota Police Department and Canastota Fire Department.
