Man dies Monday evening after fatal accident on Highway 118 near Moorpark

MOORPARK, Calif. – An 88-year-old Moorpark man was found dead after a fatal crash on Highway 118 in Moorpark around 11:10 p.m. Monday, according to the CHP.

When CHP units arrived, they found the man on the side of the road with serious injuries. It was later determined that the injuries were caused by a car crash on the highway west of Montair Drive.

Life-saving measures were taken, but the man later succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the accident, both witnesses testified, explaining by the nature of the injuries he sustained.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but witnesses said a large, dark pickup truck crashed into the victim and continued driving west after the collision, CHP reported.

While the CHP investigation was ongoing, all lanes on the highway remained open as multiple Ventura County agencies assisted with the incident.

Anyone with additional information about the deceased or the accident itself is asked to call the Ventura County Coroner’s Office or the CHP office in Moorpark.
