Devastated Sacramento family asks public for answers after son killed in hit-and-run

ALL ACTIVE. THE SEARCH FOR ANSWERS CONTINUES TONIGHT AFTER AN 18-YEAR-OLD WAS KILLED IN A HIT-AND-RUN ACCIDENT IN SACRAMENTO COUNTY. THANKS FOR JOINING US AT FIVE. I’M ORKO MANNA ERIN HEFT OF KCRA 3 HAS TALKED TO THE TEEN’S FAMILY AND TELLED HOW THEY ARE ASKING FOR THE PUBLIC’S HELP TO FIND THE PERSON RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR SON’S MURDER. BOTH OF MY SON’S LEGS WERE BROKEN. HIS RIBS WERE BROKEN. HIS FACE WAS SPLIT OPEN. HIS ARM WAS BROKEN AND HE HAD BRAIN TRAUMA. TRAUMA. SICK WITH GRIEF. SHAWN JORDAN’S FAMILY GATHERED AT THE STREET WHERE THEIR SON WAS HIT BY A CAR AND LEFT, SMASHED, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ASPHALT. HE WAS ONLY 18 YEARS OLD. HE HAD AN OLDER SISTER, AN OLDER BROTHER AND A YOUNGER SISTER. ACCORDING TO THE FAMILY, JORDAN WAS WALKING HOME ON THE BIKE PATH AGAINST THE GUIDELINE HERE ON WALERGA ROAD NEAR KIRBY WAY JUST A FEW BLOCKS FROM HIS HOME. HE DECIDED TO TAKE A SHORTCUT HOME AND WAS HIT BY A CAR. ACCORDING TO CHP INVESTIGATORS, JORDAN WAS ACCIDENTED AT AROUND 8:00 PM ON SATURDAY, JUNE 15TH. IT WAS STILL LIGHT AND THE CAR THAT HIT JORDAN FLEW THE SCENE OF THE ACCIDENT. HE WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. HIS INJURIES WERE EXTREME AND AFTER SEVERAL DAYS IN THE HOSPITAL THE DOCTORS CALLED THE FAMILY AND TOLD THEM ONE OF THE WORST THINGS YOU CAN TELL PARENTS. THEY CALLED ME AT SIX IN THE MORNING AND TOLD ME HIS BODY COULDN’T TAKE IT ANYMORE. A MONUMENT HAS NOW BEEN ERECTED BESIDE THE ROAD, HIS FAMILY HONORS HIS LIFE AND WORK, PLAYS HIS MUSIC, HONORS HIS DREAM OF BEING A FAMOUS MUSICIAN. DEVON STATED THEY ARE NOW DESPERATELY LOOKING FOR ANSWERS. IF ANYONE SAW WHAT THIS HAPPENED PLEASE CALL THE CHP OR THE SHERIFF. “This is the worst pain I have ever experienced”

On the evening of June 15, before sunset, 18-year-old Shawn Jordan was hit by a car while walking home, the California Highway Patrol said. His family told KCRA 3 that Jordan was walking in the bike lane along the guardrail on Walerga Road because there are no sidewalks in the area. The car that hit Jordan fled the scene, leaving the 18-year-old injured on the road. “My son had both of his legs broken, his ribs broken, his face split, his arm broken and he had brain trauma,” said Seth Jordan, Shawn’s father. According to the family, Jordan died in the hospital on June 20 from his numerous injuries. His family is now asking the public for help in finding information about the driver who left their son mutilated on the road. “Someone has to know something; the CHP is involved, call them. “We just want answers and justice for Shawn,” said Marie Martinez, Shawn’s mother. “If anyone saw what happened, please call the CHP or the sheriffs. I need to close this case and I need to know that person is not driving like that… this is the worst pain I’ve ever experienced,” his father said. The CHP confirms they are investigating and is asking the public to call 916-798-0975 with any information about the hit-and-run crash that killed Shawn Jordan.

According to the family, Jordan succumbed to his numerous injuries in the hospital on June 20.

His family is now asking the public for help in finding information about the driver who left their son mutilated on the road.

“Someone must know something; the CHP is involved, call them. We just want answers and justice for Shawn,” said Marie Martinez, Shawn’s mother.

“If anyone saw this, please call the police or sheriff. I need to get closure and have peace of mind that this person is not driving around like this… This is the worst pain I have ever experienced,” his father said.

CHP confirms an investigation is ongoing and is asking the public to call 916-798-0975 with any information regarding the hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of Shawn Jordan.
