Thousands took to the streets for Ride for Roswell

More than 8,000 riders took to the streets for the annual Ride for Roswell at the University at Buffalo.

The route started on Lee Road and ended on Hamilton Road.

Event attendees include hundreds of cancer patients and survivors, as well as their families and friends.

This year’s event raised $5.7 million for cancer research.

“It’s fun to ride in a group,” said rider David Weeks. “We’re here with a group of friends. We started our band about 10 years ago. We were all friends or guitar students of the late, great Charlie O’Neill, who was also treated in Roswell and unfortunately after five years of recurrence, we didn’t survive it after a while.”
