Hollyoaks star reveals serious injury after gym accident

Hollyoaks’ Stephanie Waring has shared a video of her lip injury following a gym accident.

Waring, who plays Cindy Cunningham in the Channel 4 soap, revealed on Instagram that she suffered a split lip while training.

“Going to the gym is officially dangerous,” said the soap veteran.

“So I was doing hip thrusts with 36kg of weight and it rolled across my body and onto my face,” she explained. “And now I have not only a split lip but a gaping hole between my gum and my lower lip.”

The clip cuts to Waring wearing mauve lipstick to “hide” her split lips “from the outside world.”

“It’s very dramatic,” she said.

“I think I’m getting away with it,” she continued, adding: “I can’t believe it took me until my last block on Hollyoaks to discover a bold red lipstick.”

Earlier this year, Waring said she was among the casualties of the three-episode run of Hollyoaks and would be axed from the show.

“As an actress, I obviously understand that there are no jobs for life, but with my 28 years on the show, I was hopeful that Cindy would survive the exciting revamp and move into the new era,” she wrote on social media. “Especially since I started playing her in 1996, making me the only original cast member left in the cast reduction, which I can only describe as devastating.”

She added: “Hollyoaks is in my blood and I loved every minute of walking in Cindy’s high heels.”

Hollyoaks first streams online every weekday at 7:30pm on Channel 4. Episodes then air on E4 the following day before premiering on YouTube a week later.
