Arensdorf dedicates nearly 30 years of service to the Buffalo Bill Rodeo

The Buffalo Bill Rodeo concluded Saturday, June 15 in North Platte after four days of intense rodeo action. Behind the scenes, longtime Buffalo Bill Rodeo Committee member Shelli Arensdorf made sure everything went smoothly.

Her involvement with the Buffalo Bill Rodeo began in the 1990s, when she was enlisted to run the scoreboard during each performance. At that time, she coordinated the Nebraska State Rodeo Association Finals and was identified by the Buffalo Bill Rodeo Committee as a potential asset to the group.

In 2005, Arensdorf officially became a member of the committee. Since then, she has served in various capacities, even holding two separate positions as co-president.

Arensdorf, who spent her childhood and adult years rising through the rodeo ranks, says giving back to the sport and the community is her favorite part.

“I grew up rodeoing,” Arensdorf said. “Giving back and being connected to sport is rewarding for me. »

When it came time to select a favorite memory from the Buffalo Bill Rodeo, Arensdorf couldn’t choose just one.

“Every year it’s a really good rodeo,” she said. “There’s a reason we’re in the ProRodeo Hall of Fame.”

With so many organizations and community groups struggling to attract dedicated volunteers, Arensdorf’s call to action is more relevant than ever.

“If you’re asked to serve on a committee, show up for the right reasons,” Arensdorf said. “Show up and do the work. »
