17-year-old girl pronounced dead after rollover accident on I-79

A 17-year-old Fairview resident was pronounced dead after a rollover crash on Interstate 79.

According to Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook, 17-year-old Cadence Gannoe of Fairview was pronounced dead at 1:17 p.m. on Sunday, June 16, at UPMC Hamot.


A witness at the scene described the accident, saying the car was traveling north on I-79 at the Interchange Road exit shortly before 1 p.m. when it overturned and came to rest on its roof in the middle of the highway.

Gannoe, a passenger in the vehicle, was thrown from the vehicle in the rollover accident.

According to Cook, the driver of the vehicle is still in the hospital.

The police are continuing their investigation.
