LAKEWOOD – Police are investigating an early morning hit-and-run crash that left a man hospitalized with serious injuries, according to prosecutors.

According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer, a male pedestrian was struck in a marked crosswalk around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

Lakewood Police arrived at the scene of a hit-and-run accident at the intersection of Route 9 and First Street.

The victim was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center and was listed in critical condition late Sunday morning.

Police search for white limousine

Investigators determined the victim was struck by a white four-seat sedan traveling north on Route 9. Authorities did not release the make or model of the suspect’s vehicle.

The sedan continued north after colliding with the male pedestrian, Billhimer said.

Police are attempting to locate the vehicle. Anyone with information regarding the hit-and-run crash is asked to contact OCPO Det. Anthony Carrington at 732-929-2027 ext. 3257.
