TRAFFIC ALERT: S. Glebe Road blocked by accident and rescue

The driver of a car is rescued after an accident on S. Glebe Road.

The accident occurred just before 2 p.m. in Glebe near 19th Street S. in the Green Valley area. At the time of publication, all lanes of S. Glebe Road are closed.

The driver of a Kia involved in the accident was trapped in the vehicle and is being freed by the fire department, according to the traffic scanner. The vehicle came to rest on a sidewalk next to the northbound lane.

No word yet on what caused the crash. The trapped person is expected to be transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
