Cow hit by police car can get up

Footage obtained by the BBC shows a cow running freely through the streets of Surrey and later getting back on its feet after being hit by a police car.

Surrey Police said in a statement that after failed attempts to safely capture the cow “over several hours,” “the decision was made to stop her in a police car.”

The cow was hit twice by a marked vehicle, which the RSPCA says “appears disproportionate”.

A police statement said the cow’s owner had been located and a veterinarian had assessed the cow’s injuries and was now monitoring her treatment and recovery.

The company also said it would contact the police complaints regulator.
