Polish woman claims rape in Himachal, accused arrested » Yes Punjab

A man was arrested on Friday for the alleged rape of a Polish woman in nearby McLeodganj in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, police said.

The victim had filed a complaint with the police the day before, claiming to have been raped.

Kangra’s Deputy Superintendent of Police Hitesh Lakhanpal told the media that the accused was arrested after a case was registered against him under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code. The medical examination of the victim confirmed rape, he said.

Her statement before the magistrate was recorded by the police.

The victim, who had registered for a meditation course, had been in McLeodganj for the past three weeks. She contacted the accused, who offered her a rental apartment. (Agency)
