Thomasville teenager injured in hit-and-run on Lincoln Street

On Wednesday morning around 12:30 p.m., Thomasville Police were called to a pedestrian-involved accident at the intersection of Martin Luther King Drive and Lincoln Street.

According to police, the pedestrian was walking on the sidewalk heading north on MLK Drive. The suspect’s vehicle was also traveling north on MLK Drive when it left the roadway and landed on the sidewalk, striking the pedestrian.

The suspect vehicle then allegedly fled in an unknown direction. Investigators say it left damage to the front, possibly also to the hood and windshield. The suspect vehicle is black in color, police say.

The pedestrian, Cortez Barrier, 18, of Thomasville, was transported by EMS to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He is currently in critical condition.
