Hyderabad: Three policemen of Mangalhat police station have been suspended and two head constables have been sent to headquarters for alleged corruption. The orders were issued by Hyderabad Police Commissioner K. Sreenivasa Reddy on Wednesday.

Constables Mahender Yadav, Tilak Raj and Shravan were alleged to have collaborated with criminals, drug peddlers and other criminals and secured their share of the proceeds of the crime. Based on the information, the police higher-ups ordered an inquiry and the Hyderabad Police Commissioner initiated action against them and also against two police superintendents – Narendar and Srinivas.

It is to be noted that recent investigations have revealed that local police officers, head constables and sub-inspectors in various police stations in southwest and south Hyderabad were allegedly working with the PDS rice and wheat mafia, illegal liquor outlets and violent planners and making illegal money. There were also complaints that the local police were making settlements in civil cases with the help of local leaders.

Last month, a man was murdered in an illegal liquor shop in Kulsumpura in the South West zone, while police busted two brothels in Gudimalkapur in the city that had been operating for several months.

In Puranapul, Pardiwada, Bandlaguda, Jiyaguda, Falaknuma, Aliabad and other places, illegal belt shops are flourishing with the connivance of the local police, a source said.
