Guilford County deputy shot in response to Oak Ridge incident

OAK RIDGE – A Guilford County Sheriff’s Office deputy was shot early Monday while responding to an incident at 7504 Skippers Trace.

The unnamed deputy who was shot around 1:23 a.m. was taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition, a sheriff’s office news release said.

The suspect, whose identity was also not disclosed, was arrested and taken to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, the news release said.

No information was available on the suspect’s charges, the nature of the incident to which the officer initially responded, or a motive for the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing.
