Internet artist Shadman, who creates sexually explicit cartoons, has been published for the first time since his alleged arrest

  • Shaddai Prejean, a name associated with online artist Shadman, was arrested.

  • Prejean was arrested on two counts of assault.

  • Shadman is known online for his sexually explicit art, which often features animated characters.

The online artist known as Shadman has posted on Twitter for the first time since internet users speculated that he had been arrested in Los Angeles.

The speculation followed the release of documents related to the arrest of Shaddai Prejean, a name that has been associated with Shadman online for at least five years and is listed as his name on Know Your Meme and Shadman’s IMDb page.

Prejean was arrested on two counts of California Penal Code Section 245(A)1, or assault with a deadly weapon, according to court documents obtained by Insider. According to a public deposition transcript, Glendale police arrested Prejean on Oct. 26.

On Thursday, Shadman posted on Twitter for the first time since Prejean’s arrest. Before Thursday’s tweets, his last post was on October 22.

“No time for explanations, don’t worry about me, I’m better than you and always will be, I’m a professional, see you around, I don’t want to be you,” Shadman wrote in the headline of a tweet accompanied by several art pictures and memorabilia.

The artist also posted several follow-up tweets that included images of food, a television, a Lego figure with an upside-down cross pendant, and defaced Pokémon cards.

Shadman is an artist known for his sexually explicit art, which he publishes on his website Shadbase.

His art features cartoon characters, such as those from the Pixar film The Incredibles. As Gizmodo reported in 2017, Shadman also drew lolicon—young girls in sexually suggestive or explicit situations—and raunchy art of politicians such as Hillary Clinton. In a July 2019 blog post on his website, he said he would no longer produce lolicon art.

According to Know Your Meme, Shadman began posting on Newgrounds in July 2009 and launched his own website in October of the same year. His YouTube channel, with 321,000 subscribers, launched in March 2010. He also has a large following on other social media platforms, with over 727,000 followers on Twitter and 390,000 followers on the Shadbase Facebook page.

On November 11, the Twitter account of the internet forum Kiwi Farms posted purported documents confirming Prejean’s arrest on October 26. Kiwi Farms began as a discussion forum for internet personality Christine Chandler (“Chris Chan”), who was arrested for incest earlier this year. Today, the forum describes itself as a “community dedicated to discussing eccentric people.”

According to court documents obtained by Insider, Prejean was arrested by Glendale police on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. He posted bail on Nov. 10, court documents show.

According to court documents, the charges relate to an incident that allegedly occurred on October 26 in Los Angeles County.

Under California law, this violation is punishable by two to four years in state prison, up to one year in county jail, a fine of up to $10,000, or a combined fine and imprisonment.

There are no reports yet on the alleged incident that led to Prejean’s arrest, and Glendale police were not immediately able to respond to Insider’s request for more information.

According to court documents, Prejean was absent from a court appearance on Oct. 28, but his attorney expressed doubts about his mental competency. According to the documents, Prejean underwent an examination and mental competency hearing Monday morning and appeared in court Friday morning for “further proceedings.” It was not immediately clear when he would next appear in court.

The public defender listed in court documents as Prejean’s attorney and a Facebook page associated with Shadman did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
