Buffalo-based Indian restaurant plans 4 new locations in two years

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Buffalo-based Indian cuisine restaurant plans to triple its size to six locations in the next two years.

Alibaba Kebab’s expansion begins this year with two new suburban locations in West Seneca and East Amherst. They’re part of a larger plan by the Indian and Mediterranean fast-casual restaurant to become a regional — and perhaps national — chain.

The short-term goal is to reach six locations through licensing agreements and future plans to offer franchise opportunities, said owner Anand Kattu. He is also exploring custom packaging to bottle and sell his sauce on retail sites.

“Every year I see growth, year after year,” he said. “At some point we’d like to make it a chain and see how far it goes.” We need to recruit the right people and see what we can do.
