Deadly police-involved shooting in Montgomery County under investigation

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Maryland – A fatal police officer-involved shooting that occurred in the Fairland neighborhood of Montgomery County is currently under investigation by the Maryland Attorney General’s Office.

On May 29 at approximately 11:40 p.m., Montgomery County Police responded to a dispute in the 3300 block of Hampton Point Drive in Fairland.

The emergency caller, a resident of the house, told police that her brother had attacked her mother and was armed with a gun.

The officers set up a perimeter around the house. From outside, they reported that they had heard gunshots coming from inside the house.

A hostage situation was ordered and the special task force was called in. According to the police, negotiations with the brother continued into the night.

The next day, at around 2:05 a.m., the SWAT team entered the house and gave orders.

According to police, an officer fired his weapon several times, hitting the man. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

A pistol was found near the man at the crime scene.

No officers were injured.
