1 dead in shooting at a restaurant in California City

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) – Police say one person is dead in a shooting at a McDonald’s restaurant in California City.

Shortly after 12:30 p.m., officers and emergency personnel were called to the restaurant on California City Boulevard near Hacienda Boulevard for a report of a shooting.

California City Police officials said a gunman opened fire, striking one person. The victim was taken to Antelope Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The department told residents that the restaurant would remain closed during the investigation and that they should avoid the area.
