Police in McFarland seize 1,000 suspected fentanyl tablets

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) – During a routine traffic stop, McFarland police seized about 1,000 pills suspected of containing fentanyl, according to police officials.

According to a police news release, police stopped a vehicle on Perkins Avenue and Frontage Road Saturday morning for a traffic violation.

The driver did not have a license and there was an arrest warrant out for the passenger, police said. Officers arrested the driver and searched the vehicle.

Police found a clear plastic bag containing blue pills labeled “M30” — suspected counterfeit OxyContin pills containing fentanyl, the press release said. A loaded handgun and loose ammunition were also found.

The passenger was arrested on suspicion of possession of fentanyl for sale, possession of drugs with a loaded weapon and other offenses, police said. The driver was issued a citation and released.
