Sean “Diddy” Combs is accused of sexual assault in a 2003 trial

NEW YORK (AP) — A former model accused Sean “Diddy” Combs of sexually assaulting her at his New York recording studio in 2003 in a lawsuit filed Tuesday, the latest in a series of lawsuits accusations against the embattled hip-hop mogul.

Crystal McKinney said she was a successful 22-year-old model when she met Combs at a restaurant during Men’s Fashion Week in Manhattan. According to the federal complaint filed in New York City, Combs invited her to his recording studio later that evening.

The lawsuit alleges that when McKinney arrived, she found Combs drinking and smoking joints with several other men. She smoked some marijuana, which she “later learned” was laced with a narcotic or intoxicating substance, the lawsuit says. She felt like she was floating. Combs led her to the bathroom where the sexual assault occurred, the lawsuit says.

Combs walked her back into the studio and she lost consciousness, the lawsuit says. She later woke up in a taxi and realized she had been sexually assaulted, the lawsuit says.

Representatives for Combs did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.

The Associated Press typically does not name people who say they have been sexually abused unless they come forward publicly, as McKinney did.

The lawsuit was filed days after CNN aired Security video showing Combs attacking singer Cassie in a Los Angeles hotel hallway in 2016. Combs on Sunday published a video He admitted attacking Cassie in the hotel hallway and said he was “truly sorry” and his actions were “inexcusable.”

Because of the statute of limitations, Combs is in no danger of being prosecuted for the beating.

A lawsuit filed by Cassie in November alleging beatings and abuse was populated one day after submission. But it sparked intense scrutiny of Combs, and several more lawsuits were filed in the months that followed, along with a federal criminal investigation into sex trafficking that led authorities to search Combs’ mansions in Los Angeles and Miami.

Tuesday’s lawsuit was filed under a New York City law that allows plaintiffs to file civil suits within a limited period of time, even if the events allegedly occurred long ago.
