Traffic signal restoration: 125 out of 1,100 signals across Houston district need repair, TxDOT says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Repairing traffic signals has been the top priority as the Texas Department of Transportation works to clear roads and resume regular operations after Thursday’s intense storms in Houston.

In the Houston District, TxDOT has 1,100 signals in total. Additionally, approximately 125 signals require repairs.

“Our crews are working diligently to restore our traffic signals and are working to resume normal operations across the Houston District, including Harris, Montgomery, Fort Bend and Waller counties. To expedite restoration, TxDOT is leveraging on our strengths to get our system up and running,” said Eliza Paul, district engineer for TxDOT Houston District.

To support Houston’s disaster response and recovery efforts, TxDOT called on workers from across Texas.
