Western New York native signs with Buffalo Bills

A local guy gets the opportunity to live out his dreams by playing professional football in his hometown of Buffalo, New York.

Joe Andreessen is a native of Depew, New York and graduated from Lancaster High School. In high school, Andreessen was a two-year starter and two-time all-state linebacker.

After high school, Andreessen played college football, where he attended Bryant before returning home to spend his senior season at the University at Buffalo.

In his final college season, Andreessen started all 12 games at linebacker for the Bulls, leading the team with 90 tackles.

Andreessen attended the Bills’ rookie minicamp on a tryout basis, and that must have caught their attention because over the weekend, Andreessen has now signed with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent.

Growing up, you may have dreamed of getting the chance to play for your hometown team. For Andreessen, this is a reality!

Andreessen becomes the third UB alumnus to join the roster, joining cornerback Cam Lewis and cornerback Ja’Marcus Ingram. They will all come together on May 20 to start an organized team activity, and who knows? Maybe we’ll see Andreessen on the pitch this season!

“It’s amazing,” Andreessen said. “Everything I dreamed of.”

The Buffalo Bills NFL schedule is expected to be public on Wednesday, May 15 so we can start planning for our first game of the season.
