Man arrested after bar attack; Victim hospitalized in critical condition

A man has been arrested following an alleged brawl in a Middlesbrough pub last night which left another man in a critical condition.

There was a major “violent incident” at the Jack and Jill pub on Crossfell Road in Middlesbrough last night (Saturday May 10), with police staying at the pub well into the night.

Cleveland Police officers rushed to the scene and remained in the area as the investigation continued and “the full circumstances of the incident were established.”

Now Cleveland Police have confirmed that a 25-year-old man has been arrested, while another man remains in hospital in critical condition.

A police spokesman said: “A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an incident at the Jack and Jill pub on Crossfell Road, Middlesbrough.”

“Officers were called to the scene just before 6pm on Saturday, May 11, following reports of an assault.

“The man currently remains in police custody. A man is in critical condition in hospital.

“The investigation is ongoing and officers would like to reassure the local community that there is no risk to the general public.
