Police are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – Oklahoma City police are investigating after an officer shot and killed an armed man Sunday evening.

“It was very dramatic and very sad,” said Bill Parsons, who lives nearby. “Me and my neighbors who knew the people involved in this shooting are just sickened by this.”

The incident occurred in a neighborhood near Hefner and Rockwell. Parsons told KFOR that it is usually a quiet area.

“All the driveways and streets filled up with police cars and sirens, and then they ran caution tape everywhere,” Parsons said.

Oklahoma City police said they responded to a domestic call around 8 p.m

“Prior to officers arriving, it was reported that shots were fired,” said Captain Valerie Littlejohn with OKCPD.

Parsons said he and his wife heard several gunshots.

According to Captain Littlejohn, when officers arrived at the home on NW 106th Street, they came into contact with an armed man.

“During this confrontation, an officer discharged his firearm, striking this individual,” Captain Littlejohn said.

The man died at the scene of the accident. Police told KFOR that the incident was still under investigation.

“We will speak to all witnesses and the officers involved to determine exactly what led to the shooting,” Captain Littlejohn said.

Meanwhile, neighbors said they were praying for the affected family.

“This family is important to us. So all the neighbors here, we look out for each other,” Parsons said. “He was a very nice man and you know, the whole thing is just sad.”

The officer who fired the shot has been placed on regular administrative leave pending the investigation.
