MassDOT worker hit and killed while picking up debris

A Massachusetts Department of Transportation worker was struck and killed by a passing vehicle Saturday night. State police said the person was outside their vehicle at the time, picking up debris. This occurred around 9:30 p.m. Saturday night near the Route 24 northbound exit 28B in West Bridgewater. As of Sunday morning, the person had not been identified. Police said the vehicle that struck the worker was still at the scene of the accident. Plymouth County Criminal Investigation Division, Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Division (CARS) and Crime Scene Services Division all arrived at the scene. For the safety of motorists and emergency personnel, all northbound lanes were closed until 1:20 a.m. State police said the incident is still under investigation by Plymouth County Criminal Investigation Division. They sent their condolences to the family.
