IIT Guwahati student allegedly sexually abused on campus; A student arrested

Guwahati, April 3: A student of IIT Guwahati was allegedly sexually abused by senior citizens on Sunday. The girl was found unconscious outside her dorm on March 28. Kamrup police arrested an IITG student on Saturday in connection with the case. Police recorded the statement of the rape survivor on Saturday. According to reports, an initial investigation confirmed the arrested student’s involvement in the matter.

The incident occurred on the institution’s campus. The institution described the incident as “regrettable.” However, the exact details of the attack were not disclosed by the institution. “We have arrested a student of IITG for his alleged involvement in the sexual assault case. The IITG said in a statement, “The inquiry committee constituted on March 29 submitted its report to the institute on April 14, while the institute has filed an FIR.” The police have started their investigation and the institute is providing full service Cooperation.” The institution said that the girl and her guardians refused to file an FIR in the case.
