One person dies in accident in Oneonta

ONEONTA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – New York State Police have confirmed that one person was killed in a pedestrian-car crash in the City of Oneonta on the morning of July 23.

On Tuesday, police officers responded to State Highway 7 in Oneonta around 5 a.m. The road was closed for about four hours while the accident was investigated.


After the investigation, officials said the pedestrian – later identified as 40-year-old Amber Joy of Oneonta – was walking on State Highway 7 when she was struck by a car. Officials said she did not survive the accident.

The road was reopened shortly before 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, but police said the accident was still under investigation.

Officials said the driver of the vehicle has cooperated with investigators. His name has not been released publicly.
