Police surround pro-Palestinian camp at MIT

I just sang a while ago and the police are out there right now. ANTOINETTE AND DOUG, good morning. The camp is surrounded by police in tactical gear. As you pointed out, there are other protesters who are not in the camp. YOU ARE CLOSER TO WHERE WE ARE. We are kept at a distance and you can hear them protesting and chanting in the background. What you see there: As I said, the camp is surrounded and we have seen some signs that the camp is being broken up. We have reason to believe that the protesters have probably disappeared at this point. We saw a number taken away and taken into custody. We also saw several buses under police escort leaving this area to rescue the people who were being taken away. They surrendered peacefully. So we don’t have any clashes to report on. We’ve never seen anything like this before. Apparently the police are in tactical gear. They’re here just in case. BUT NOW IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS ENDING IN A PEACEFUL WAY. We know that, we only knew that yesterday. We’ve learned that MIT has actually started suspending some students. Those who had refused to leave this camp. To recap: At this point, we believe the protesters are gone. We believe that the process of demolishing the camp is underway. And at this time we have no collisions to report. From now on we will keep you updated all morning. REPORT
