Police file a complaint against 21-year-old under POCSO Act for sexually abusing a minor girl in Prathipadu

Vijayawada: A case under the POCSO Act has been filed against 21-year-old G Koteswara Rao for “sexually harassing” a class eight girl in Chinakondrupadu village near Prathipadu in Guntur.

Rao, an auto driver from the same village, assaulted the minor girl on July 12. The victim hailed from a Dailt family in the village, Guntur South police said.

Police said, “The mother noticed blood stains on her daughter’s clothes and came to know that Rao had sexually abused her.” A preliminary police investigation revealed that the accused had “molested” the victim “in the name of love” and had been warned by the victim’s parents.

The victim’s parents filed a complaint at Prathipadu police station on Tuesday. The police registered the case under the POCSO Act and the SC & ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The accused is absconding, police said.

The police took the girl to the hospital for a medical examination. Her health condition is stable.
