Davis man allegedly killed his wife, police say

A Yolo County man was arrested and accused of killing his wife while out on bail in a domestic violence case. Davis police said a 29-year-old woman was found dead in her J Street home Thursday afternoon after a friend reported her missing. Officers found the woman’s husband, Henry Stanley, nearby. He had a restraining order against him prohibiting him from contacting his wife, Davis police said. Stanley had been arrested on domestic violence charges two days earlier and was released on bail after that arrest. Police said Stanley was arrested for murder.A call for changeA memorial and signs calling for change were put up outside the home where the woman was killed.Neighbors like Paulo Andrade said they were shocked by the tragedy. “I didn’t even know this was happening, it was right across the street from me,” Andrade said. Cecilia Ochoa was one of the residents who laid flowers outside the woman’s home to honor her life. She said even though she did not know the woman, the news saddened her. “Life ended just briefly,” Ochoa said. A Yolo County man was arrested and accused of killing his wife while out on bail in a domestic violence case.

Davis police said a 29-year-old woman was found dead in her J Street home Thursday afternoon after a friend reported her missing.

Officers found the woman’s husband, Henry Stanley, nearby. He had a restraining order against him prohibiting him from having any contact with his wife, Davis police said.

Stanley had been arrested two days earlier for domestic violence and was released on bail following his arrest.

According to police, Stanley was arrested for murder.

A call for change

A memorial and posters calling for change were erected in front of the house where the woman was killed.

Neighbors like Paulo Andrade said they were shocked by the tragedy.

“I didn’t even know that was happening, right across from me,” Andrade said.

Cecilia Ochoa was one of the residents who laid flowers in front of the woman’s home to honor her life.

She said that although she did not know the news, she was sad.

“It’s just a life ended too soon,” Ochoa said.

Ochoa said this is just another example of how victims of domestic violence need more protection.

“We just need to raise awareness,” Ochoa said. “It can happen to anyone, regardless of education, ethnicity and background.”
