New heat wave hits the Carolinas

We’ll explain everything you need to know.

GREENSBORO, NC — Summer has already been hot, but the heat is just beginning. Our WFMY News 2 weather team is predicting a new heat wave on the horizon, starting next week, that could push temperatures to the same or higher levels as they have already reached this summer. Be warned that Monday and Tuesday will be dangerously hot days in our area.

What is the prognosis?

This weekend and into early next week it will be dry. A high pressure system is building up, causing temperatures to rise a little bit each day. At the weekend, maximum temperatures will be between 35 and 35 degrees. From early next week, the heat will get worse.

Our forecast predicts highs of 35 to 38 degrees Celsius across the Piedmont on Monday and Tuesday. When you factor in the humidity, it will feel more like 40 degrees on both days.

The heat will not let up after that. It will remain very hot on Wednesday before the chance of rain increases towards the end of the week and the weekend – which we desperately need.
