Woman dies after being hit by fallen tree in southeast DC

A woman was hit by a fallen tree in the Capitol Hill area of Washington, DC, on Wednesday morning, officials said.

A woman was struck and died by a fallen tree in the Capitol Hill area of DC on Wednesday morning.

Firefighters said they received the first reports of a woman trapped under a tree in southeast Garfield Park shortly before 7:30 a.m.

When rescuers arrived, they found an unidentified woman trapped under a tree.

The woman was pronounced dead when officers began removing the tree that had fallen on her.

Investigators are still working to find out exactly what happened.
