New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Thursday sought Delhi Police’s response to a bail application filed by the wife of suspended Women and Child Development Department officer Premoday Khakha, who is accused of repeatedly raping and impregnating a minor.

The Supreme Court issued a notice to the Delhi Police

Justice Jyoti Singh informed the Delhi Police about the bail application filed by Seema Rani Khakha and asked them to file a status report on the status of investigation in the case.

The Supreme Court referred the matter for further hearing on July 5.

The Supreme Court refused to grant the couple bail at the beginning of February.

The couple, who are currently in custody, were arrested after the minor victim recorded his statement before a judge at a hospital in the state capital.

The minor victim’s ordeal came to light when she shared the details of incidents of sexual assault against her, allegedly committed by Khakha, to a therapist at a Delhi hospital where she was being treated for panic attacks.

Delhi Police registered the case under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and Section 376(2)(f) (relative, guardian, teacher or a person in a position of trust or authority). the woman commits rape on that woman) and 509 (words, gestures or acts intended to outrage the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
