Quynn Robinson Sr., 35, was found dead in a car in the Moncrief area last June.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrested 22-year-old Briyhon Johnson, who was already in the Duval County Jail on other charges, and charged him with killing Robinson.

Robinson’s family remembers him as a father of six children who was studying to become a pastor.

“I remember waking up and seeing it, like everyone was Instagramming it and texting it to me and taking screenshots saying, ‘They got him,'” Caron Robinson said. “The crazy thing is, when I showed my daughter, she actually went to school with him.”

She said the family was still in shock.

“It’s still unreal right now because now we have to prepare for the trial,” said Caron Robinson. “… You know everything that’s going to come out.”

She spoke about the family’s feelings after receiving no answers for almost a year.

“It gave me goosebumps because I thought, ‘Wow, what an irony of timing,’ that was just crazy,” said Caron Robinson. “It’s scary knowing the people out here doing this and you just don’t know who, what, when, how or why.”

She said that despite the arrest, it was still difficult for her family.

“It’s been a tough battle and it’s like losing your best friend,” Caron Robinson said. “It’s tough, but when you lose your brother, you just don’t know how to deal with it.”

Caron Robinson encourages families whose cases are unclear to keep the faith.

“Keep hope, God is old,” Robinson said. “As much as you get angry and want to take matters into your own hands, pray and leave it to God because we could not have imagined something like this happening in this day and age.”

The family tried to stay strong during a difficult time.

“I know he’s proud of us because we rocked for him,” she said.
