Fraud Alert – Dawson

PRESS RELEASE – The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office has released the following statement on social media regarding the ongoing scams in the county:

“We have an arrest warrant for you!”

Great, now that I have your attention: DO NOT fall for this scam.

The FBI, GBI, DCSO, etc. will NOT call you and tell you that you have a warrant. Furthermore, NO agency will ask you for money over the phone. And finally, no reputable agency or company will ever ask you to send gift cards.

Please stay alert as these scammers use real names and companies but try to take advantage of our citizens.
