Murder suspect arrested during traffic stop in Union County

MONROE, NC (WBTV) – A murder suspect was arrested during a traffic stop in Monroe Tuesday afternoon. According to police.

Jamison Chambers, 25, of Wingate was remanded to the Union County Detention Center without bail and following accusation:

  • Driving under the influence of alcohol
  • Carrying a weapon concealed
  • Child abuse

In addition, he received Arrest warrants for fugitives in the following cases:

  • Failure to appear in court for murder
  • Possession of a weapon during a violent crime
  • Armed robbery

According to police, Chambers was stopped on West Roosevelt Boulevard near Morgan Mill Road for an expired license plate.

During the stop, the officer found that Chambers was under the influence of alcohol, was driving without a license and that there were underage children in the car.

“This is a prime example of how important proactive enforcement is to maintaining safety in our community,” the department wrote. “Hard work and outstanding performance by officers like these contribute to the safety and well-being of our citizens.”
