Missing Georgia firefighters found dead after ending ‘toxic’ relationship

Two Georgia firefighters who disappeared shortly after their “toxic” relationship ended have been found dead nearly 400 miles from home, according to their family and police.

The bodies of high school sweethearts Raegan Anderson and Chandler Kuhbander, both 24, were found Sunday along with Anderson’s black 2017 Ford Focus in Cocke County, Tennessee, police in their hometown of Hinesville, Georgia, said.

Further details about the discovery – including the cause of death of the couple – are not immediately available, authorities said.

Anderson and Kuhbander, who worked together at the Liberty County Fire Department, were last seen together in Anderson’s car in the parking lot of a Crunch gym in Savannah on June 24.

“At 11:40 a.m. my son leaves the building and he looks very relaxed, like he just finished his workout,” Kuhbander’s mother Jane told WJCL.

“He doesn’t look rushed as he walks through the parking lot. We don’t see him again after that,” she said.

The two were together for several years after meeting in high school, but recently split after a “toxic” relationship, the concerned mother told CourtTV last week.

Two days before her disappearance, police responded to a report of a domestic dispute at an Olive Garden in Pooler, Georgia, WJCL said.

Anderson allegedly went to the restaurant during a date with Kuhbander and confronted him before scratching his car, the outlet said.

She was charged with second-degree criminal damage and disorderly conduct.

On June 24, around 10:00 a.m., Kuhbander called his mother and said Anderson was “blowing up” his phone and threatening to kill herself, Jane claimed, adding, “And it’s not the first time she’s done this.”

When police went to Anderson’s home after the couple disappeared, they found the door unlocked and a note inside suggesting she may have been planning to harm herself, WJCL reported.

The Liberty County Fire Department said it was “deeply saddened” by the news.

“These two extremely dedicated employees are wholeheartedly committed to protecting and caring for the citizens of Liberty County,” the statement said.

“Our prayers and those of the department are with the families during this extremely difficult time.”

The investigation into the deaths of Anderson and Kuhbander is ongoing, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation told The Post on Tuesday.
