Depraved man raped children after supplying them with cigarettes, alcohol and money

A vicious rapist has been sentenced to prison for past child sex offences after he gave children cigarettes, alcohol and money and then sexually abused them.

Norman Williams, 59, used the items on two of his victims when they were around 12 years old. He sexually abused them over a period of four years. A third victim was also sexually abused by Williams.

Williams, from Atherton, was found guilty following a trial at Bolton Crown Court of ten counts of indecent assault, six counts of rape and one count of sexual assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Detective Constable Chris Waddicar, of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “Firstly, I would like to thank the victims in this case for coming forward and having the courage to allow us to conduct a thorough investigation.

“Williams’ crimes were reprehensible – he targeted defenseless young children who could not defend themselves.

“As an investigative team, we hope that today’s verdict gives them peace of mind that justice has been done and their perpetrator is behind bars, where he can no longer harm vulnerable members of our community.

“I would like to urge anyone out there who has been a victim of sexual abuse to contact us. No matter how long ago it happened, we will listen to you and help bring your abuser to justice.”
