The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man in connection with an attack on a longtime school principal. Warner has been the principal of Chalmette High School for years. According to the Sheriff’s Office, officers were dispatched to the 2900 block of Palmetto Street to investigate the attack on Warner. Warner sustained significant injuries in the incident. According to Warner, he was driving down Palmetto Street when he observed an adult man in a wheelchair knocking over trash cans and mailboxes and got out of his vehicle to ask the man if he needed help. At that point, according to Warner, Kidd became angry and pushed him to the ground. Warner was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. He will need to undergo surgery for his injuries. Officers said they found Warner’s cellphone in some nearby bushes. The sheriff believes Kidd stole it and threw it in the bushes. Kidd was later found at a nearby store, where he was caught stealing things and hiding them in his wheelchair, according to the sheriff.
