Birmingham man charged with sexually assaulting four different women in the city’s west side

A 36-year-old Birmingham man is behind bars accused of sexually assaulting four different women.

Christian Jerel Thomas is charged with first-degree kidnapping, four counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of first-degree rape and six counts of first-degree sodomy.

The Birmingham Police Department’s Crime Reduction Team arrested Thomas on April 30, police said Wednesday. He is being held without bail in the Jefferson County Jail.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald said the investigation began in February when a woman reported to police that she had been robbed and sexually assaulted in west Birmingham.

Then in April, investigators investigated three separate cases involving three women who were also sexually assaulted and/or robbed in West Birmingham.

Birmingham police and the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office believe there may be additional victims.

Anyone who believes they may have been a victim of Thomas is asked to call the Special Victims Unit at 205-297-8413 or contact the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI) Unit at 205-325- 1423 or [email protected].
