Navi Mumbai sub-inspector rapes, stalks and threatens police officers for two years

The accused also took a total of Rs 1.9 million from the victim, taking different amounts from time to time under different pretexts. Of the total amount, the man returned only Rs 1.461 million, police said.

According to the officer from the Sanpada police station, the accused also stalked the woman and asked her to leave her husband. When she refused, he threatened to kill her.

An initial complaint was filed at Pant Nagar police station in neighbouring Mumbai. Based on the complaint, a ‘zero’ FIR was filed against the accused under sections 376 (rape), 376(2)(n) (repeated rape), 354(a) (sexual harassment), 354(d) (stalking), 506(2) (criminal intimidation) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code.

The case has been forwarded to Sanpada police for further investigation, which registered the case on Saturday, the official said.

A Zero FIR can be filed at any police station, irrespective of the location of the incident or jurisdiction. It can later be forwarded to the concerned police station.
