Friends remember newlyweds and friend who died in accident

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – The two people who died in a tragic crash on I-44 Tuesday afternoon have been identified. News Four has learned the driver was a newlywed and the passenger was a close friend.

A friend of the passenger’s family spoke to News Four, sharing memories and remembering her beloved friend.

“My sister just calls me crying frantically, like she’s screaming. And I’m like, what’s going on? What is wrong? She’s like Brice. He is gone. He is gone. He’s dead,” said Kenna Bufford, a family friend of Brice Kukuzke.

Best friends Max Pfiefer and Brice Kukuzke were driving when their three-wheeled roadster somehow slid into the metal barrier.

“The investigation is ongoing and very active,” said Preston Cox with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Friends of Brice’s family are heartbroken and said he was friendly; a friend for everyone.

“His laugh. “That’s all I can hear in the back of my mind right now is his loud, infectious laugh,” Bufford said.

The crash occurred a few days after Max’s wedding. Brice also left behind a fiancée.

“I contacted his fiancée. I’m thinking: Do you know what’s going on? She’s freaking out. It was just unreal and I still can’t believe it, you know,” Bufford said.

Bufford said she is grateful for the memories and will hold onto them forever.

“He just always knew how to comfort you,” Bufford said.

A friend, brother and son, gone far too soon.

“Life is just too short not to hold your loved ones close and just thank God,” Bufford said.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said it was not clear what exactly caused the crash and they were still investigating.
