At least 6 people injured after shooting in North Philadelphia, police said – NBC10 Philadelphia

According to police, five people were injured in a shooting in North Philadelphia on Wednesday afternoon

At around 6:22 p.m., police were called to the 2800 block of N. Bambrey Street because several people had been shot, police said.

When police arrived, they found two women with gunshot wounds to the leg. Their condition was taken to hospital and stabilized.

At this point, three people, a woman and two men, arrived at the hospital in private vehicles. They are also in a stable condition, police said.

A sixth victim, a 16-year-old girl, approached officers at the scene and said she believed she had been hit by a bullet. She was taken to the hospital with a graze wound to her abdomen.

The adults are believed to be between 19 and 43 years old, said Police Chief Scott Small.

Small said all six victims were standing on the sidewalk when a dark-colored four-door sedan eastbound on Somerset Street stopped and possibly three men got out. Then 17 shots were fired into the crowd, killing the six victims and the shooter or shooters getting back into the vehicle.

“We believe they fired intentionally into the crowd and that someone may have been the intended target,” Small said. “It’s quite possible that several others, or most of them, were not the intended target but were hit by ricochets.”

Most of the victims live in the 2800 block of Bambrey Street, Small said.

The three men were last seen getting back into the vehicle and driving east along Somerset Street, police said. The trunk of the sedan was secured with some type of yellow tape or plastic, Small said. Police helicopters are currently searching for the vehicle.

The incident was recorded by real-time crime cameras as well as private cameras in the area.
