Woman sexually assaulted in broad daylight in North Point Douglas

A 33-year-old man is in custody after sexually assaulting a woman in North Point Douglas.

On Sunday around 11 a.m., according to Winnipeg police, a woman was taking out the trash in front of a public waste disposal centre in the 100 block of the Disraeli Freeway when a man approached her, touched her in an inappropriate sexual manner and then grabbed her by her shirt to prevent her from leaving. She was eventually able to escape and ran back into the waste disposal centre, where she called police.

When officers arrived, the man was still in the area and was arrested.

The same man was arrested earlier this week after he was caught exposing himself while under the influence of methamphetamines.

A complaint was filed against the 33-year-old for sexual assault. He remains in custody.
