The Secret Service has destroyed a video showing President Joe Biden’s dog Commander biting one of his agents. The attack forced the White House to cancel tours so the blood could be cleaned from the floor.

DailyMail.com filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the Secret Service in March after an email mentioned a video depicting a biting incident involving the now-banned First Dog on June 15, 2023.

The video purports to show Commander running at high speed and leaping toward the agent in Kennedy Garden in the East Wing, leaving a “deep bite” on the agent’s left arm “which reportedly required stitches,” the email said.

“Tours of the East Wing were suspended for approximately 20 minutes due to blood from the incident on the floor in the bookstore area,” the message continued, referring to the room located directly behind the garden.

Kevin Tyrrell, Secret Service Freedom of Information Act representative, wrote in a letter to DailyMail.com on Friday: “Due to Secret Service retention standards, the above files have been destroyed.”

The Secret Service has destroyed a video showing Commander Biden (left) running at high speed toward an agent in Kennedy Garden last June, leaving a “deep bite” on the agent’s left arm. Blood was drawn in Booksellers, forcing tours to be suspended.

In a subsequent exchange, Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said the agency adheres to the “federal records retention plan, which defines when certain types of records can be archived, destroyed, etc.”

Guglielmi said he had no “direct knowledge” of the video in question. “Based on this response, I assume that the dataset in question is no longer available due to expiration of the retention period.”

While DailyMail.com had previously obtained a photo showing Commander jumping up and apparently biting a White House gardener, video footage of the dog attacks has not been released until now.

There are at least 25 documented attacks by the Commander – and even more by Major, the German Shepherd previously rescued by the Bidens.

Documents obtained in February by Judicial Watch – a conservative group that has exposed many of the biting incidents – detailed the June 15, 2023, incident. It was reported to Deputy Director Darryl Volpicelli.

Other emails obtained in connection with this FOIA request revealed that Commander was again allowed to walk off-leash on the White House grounds in the weeks leading up to the June 15 attack.

“Just assessing the situation. It looks like we’re going to let the dog off the leash again so he can roam freely around the property,” a Secret Service official warned others in an email on May 23, 2023. “This evening we had the team out on the street for the evening raid when (redacted) brought the dog out. The dog ran straight south and jumped back and forth between us technicians.”

“Although no one has been bitten, it’s only a matter of time before it happens,” said a Secret Service official whose name was redacted.

DailyMail.com was informed that a video of a biting incident involving Commander Biden on June 15, 2023, had been destroyed. The specific attack resulted in tours of the White House being halted for 20 minutes so that the blood could be wiped off the floor

In the weeks before the June 15 attack, agents were warned that the German Shepherd would again run off-leash near the White House. In a follow-up memo, one agent urged others to stand upright, call out Commander’s name and say “Halt!” to avoid being bitten.
A Secret Service agent explained how he managed to avoid being bitten by the first dog: “Seriously, standing up straight and calling his name and ‘stop’ is your best chance of not getting bitten,” the agent wrote in an email dated May 26, 2023.

A few days later, a Secret Service agent warned Camp David staff that Commander “would either be let out or come out of the house on his own and without a leash.”

The agent said he had just had a close encounter with the German Shepherd because he had scared the dog away due to his “caveman instincts.”

“Seriously, standing up straight and calling his name and ‘stop’ is your best chance of not getting bitten,” the agent wrote. “When I yelled at him and looked at him, he turned around and started sniffing a bush (read: respecting me as the alpha that I am).”

At the same time, the Secret Service asked all of its employees if they had ever been bitten by the Bidens’ dog in order to create a documentation of the attacks.

Coincidentally, June 15, 2023 – the day of the Kennedy Garden attack – was the deadline for Secret Service officials to report whether they had been bitten by Commander.

The Secret Service compiled a spreadsheet of all the incidents Commander was involved in, including where on the White House grounds they occurred and what body parts the dog was after.

In a new batch of documents released by Judicial Watch on Thursday, officials shared an updated chart showing the June 15 biting incident and one from late July.

Commander Biden shows his teeth in front of the White House. The Secret Service has compiled a list of the attacks – including where they took place, which part of the body he bit and the medical treatment required.
The Secret Service compiled a list of attacks and set June 15 as the first deadline for employees to report whether they had been bitten – which coincidentally was the date of another biting attack on the German Shepherd’s jaws.
Agents were asked for details of biting incidents to compile the above table of Commander Biden’s attacks, and the deadline to respond was June 15, 2023 – when the attack occurred in Kennedy Garden that led to the tours being suspended

The emails also described another attack at Kennedy Garden – this time in tow with President Joe Biden.

The agent recalled that on September 12, 2023, Biden went outside to Kennedy Garden for a walk with a leashed commander.

When the attack occurred, Biden opened the outside door to tell the agent something.

“As I approached him to see if he needed help, Commander walked between his legs and bit my left arm through the front of my jacket,” the Secret Service official said. “I pulled my arm away and yelled ‘no.’ POTUS yelled ‘(redacted)’ to Commander as well. POTUS then yelled ‘(redacted). I obeyed and Commander let me pet him.”

“As I turned to close the door, Commander jumped up again and bit me on my left arm for the second time,” the intelligence officer continued. “POTUS yelled at Commander again and put the leash on him.”

The agent added that his suit had three holes in it from the attack, but there were “no skin injuries.”

After another attack on the commander in September, a Secret Service sergeant told a colleague, “For your information, there was a dog bite and the officer may need to go to the hospital.”

“A safe shift!” added the officer.

On October 4, 2023, a White House spokesperson confirmed that the dog had been removed from the premises.

Commander was handed over to the President and First Lady after her rescued German Shepherd, Major, was removed from the White House for biting Secret Service agents.

Commander was a puppy at the time and a birthday gift from James, the President’s brother, and his sister-in-law Sara. He made his debut in December 2021.

Another German Shepherd from Biden, Champ, died in June 2021.
