Houston man gets life in prison for Galleria neighborhood robberies and triple murder

Jerome Moore, 25, will have to serve at least 30 years in prison before being eligible for parole.

HOUSTON — A 25-year-old Houston man has been sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of robbery in 2021.

Jerome Moore must spend at least 30 years in prison before he is eligible for parole.

After being convicted of robbery during a seven-day trial, he opted to let a judge determine his sentence. To make that happen, prosecutors in the case revealed all the evidence against Moore in a half-dozen armed robberies in the Galleria neighborhood as well as a triple murder in the Fourth Ward.

Triple murder

On July 4, 2021, Moore showed up at a block party intending to kill a rival gang member. He opened fire on the outdoor party and ended up killing three people.

The shooting occurred as the Freedom Over Texas celebration was taking place nearby.

Moore killed three men and injured two others, including a 10-year-old boy.

“This case shows the amount of damage and destruction that one person can inflict on a community,” said Harris County Prosecutor Kim Ogg. “A Harris County jury found him guilty and a judge sentenced him. We were able to hold him accountable and get justice for all of his victims.”

Armed robberies

Moore also participated in a crime spree that included six armed robberies in the Galleria neighborhood.

The one he was convicted of occurred on April 5, 2021.

“This verdict and the life sentence send a message to this small group of criminals who attempted to hold our community hostage: Their game is up,” said Assistant District Attorney Keaton Forcht. “The Galleria and surrounding areas are a place where we can all go and have fun – that’s the message it sends.”
